Opening a webpage in a different window
When you click a link in a webpage, Safari usually opens the page in the same window you are currently using. If you want, you can open the page in a new window so that you can view several pages at one time. There are several ways to open a page in a new window.
Hold down the Control key and click a link or bookmark. Then choose Open Link in New Window from the shortcut menu.
Choose New Window from the File menu, then type the address for the page.
To open a page in a new window in front of the current window, hold down the Command key and click the link or bookmark. To open the window behind the current window, hold down the Command and Shift keys. These shortcuts change if you select Enable Tabbed Browsing in the Tabs pane of Safari preferences.
Some links open in a new window without using these shortcuts. Check the status bar (at the bottom of the window) for information about what clicking a link will do. To see the status bar, choose Status Bar from the View menu.
